The island has recently undergone a massive transformation with building of 11 beachfront cottages, the creation of a large resort space, a number of fully renovated stone cottages and ample covered storage spaces. The buildings on the island are still under construction but many are nearing completion. The island is powered fully by massive solar arrays in various locations around the island. There are plans in place for an amazing main house on the western tip of the island that is ready to be built by the new owner of the island.

Bird Cay is well protected on all sides by neighbouring islands and sand banks. Chub Cay lies just west of Bird Cay and offers an excellent marina, a private resort club, restaurants, and a 5,000 foot airstrip with regular and chartered flights to Nassau.

The privately owned island of Whale Cay to the east includes a 4,000 foot paved runway and harbour. Proximity to the Great Bahama Bank and the Tongue of the Ocean makes this an excellent fishing, sailing, and scuba-diving paradise.
